Description
Pablo Picasso
Spanish painter, widely recognized as the most important artist of the 20th century. In his long career, he has experimented with a wide variety of styles and themes, in particular inspiring "cubism".
Pablo Picasso was born in Malaga on October 25, 1881 as the son of an art teacher. He later took his mother's maiden name, Picasso. He grew up in Barcelona, showing his artistic talent from an early age. He moved between France and Spain in the early 20th century, before finally settling in Paris in 1904. There he experimented with many styles and created his own original ones, reflected in his "blue" and "pink" period.
In 1907, Picasso painted "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon", a revolutionary work that introduced a new, important style - "cubism". Picasso worked closely with the French artist Georges Braque in the development of this style. Another important Picasso innovation in 1912 was "Collage", which consisted of attaching pieces of cloth, newspaper or advertising to his paintings.
